Common name: Stiff iron-grass
Height: 0.3-0.5m
Width: 0.3 – 0.5m
Description: Hard greenish brown broad leaves which form a solid clump. Small flowers and seed on spikes in centre of plant. Don’t dieback at all. Separate male and female plants.
Growing and distribution: Widespread across region. Drought tolerant once established. Can live for hundreds of years.
Beneficial Attributes: Caterpillar food plant (rare White spot rush skipper). Seeds are eaten by lizards. Attracts native bees.
