Common name: Spiny Flat-sedge
Height: 0.4-0.8m
Width: 0.2-0.4m

Description: Green cylindrical stems in open clumps.  Small flowers appear in spring at the top of stems. Fruit/seed is brown and can spread by wind or water.

Growing and distribution: Wetland plant growing on the edge of creeks and dams and in damp areas.  Common across the region.

Beneficial Attributes: Aboriginal people use the stems for weaving baskets and other items.

Note: This sedge is okay with wet feet in the riparian/wetlands areas.
