GEC Office Closure & Work from Home Arrangements
The GEC management committee have decided that as of 20/03/2020 GEC Coordinator Kathy will work from home, with the committee to review this arrangement on a regular basis following updated advice re Covid 19. We have cancelled all of our activities over the next couple of months, as they are non-essential services, and will concentrate on producing online content and working through all of the administrative tasks we have been avoiding for so long. Kathy will be working Tue-Thu 9am to 4pm and is contactable on 0413 694 477 or email@example.com.
At Gawler Environment Centre (GEC) we work with our local community to encourage action on sustainable living and environmental protection. Our focus is knowledge sharing and taking action together, and we present a wide variety of workshops, projects and events every year. A major focus is the Understory Project, which gives our community the opportunity to purchase low cost native plants grown from locally sourced seed by Gawler Environment and Heritage Association volunteers. We hold a plant pick-up day in June each year. We also run the Sustainable Living Festival, the Eco Coffin Project, and will soon be launching a Repair Café.
Our workshops encompass everything from wicking beds and snake awareness, to natural dyes, bee-keeping and making beeswax wraps. In the first half of 2020 we will be running a Living Smart course for young people, hosting our first series of Eco Coffin workshops, and continuing with our regular Eco Arts and Crafts Gathering.
We are a community run incorporated body based in the Town of Gawler Administration Centre (43 High Street, Gawler East SA 5118) along with the Natural Resources Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Gawler Office.

GEC is proudly supported by the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board.
