*We have moved*
Gawler Environment Centre has found a new home at Evanston Gardens Community Centre at 65 Angle Vale Rd! We opened our doors on Tue 6 April, and will be open Tue, Wed, Thu, 9am-4pm.
We are looking forward to working with our new neighbours at the library and the progress association and bringing our workshops and projects to new audiences. We will also keep hosting events in Gawler central, such as Gawler Repair Cafe and a variety of workshops.
At Gawler Environment Centre (GEC) we work with our local community to encourage action on sustainable living and environmental protection. Our focus is knowledge sharing and taking action together, and we present a wide variety of workshops, projects and events every year. We are a community run incorporated not for profit organisation.
We run monthly workshops and webinars that encompass everything from building wicking beds and managing weeds, to making beeswax wraps and healthy fermented foods. Every second month we run Gawler Repair Cafe, where community members can have household items, clothing, jewelry and bikes repaired free of charge. We run a monthly Eco Arts and Crafts Gathering and assist Gawler Environment and Heritage Association with the annual Understorey native plant sale.
We initiated the innovative Eco Coffin Project, which explores natural burial options. After a successful first course in 2020 the second one is about to kick off in Feb 2021. We are also currently assisting the Gawler Community Garden group to establish Gawler’s first community garden.
